A high-quality history education provides children with a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It stimulates the children’s curiosity to know more about the past.
At Larmenier & Sacred Heart we aim to equip children with the ability to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement. Through learning in history, children will develop their understanding of the complexities of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and challenges of their time.

The school’s history curriculum is designed to ensure key concepts are revisited over time – with increased cognitive challenge – so that children have the opportunity to make connections, deepen and embed knowledge in long-term memory.
