Laudato Si’

Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’, is a profound invitation to everyone on the planet to care for our common home.

Pope Francis challenges us to consider the kind of world we want to leave to those who come after us.

The encyclical discusses the damage being inflicted on the Earth by humans and calls on ‘every person living on this planet’ to make urgent changes to our lifestyles.

At Larmenier & Sacred Heart the children have the opportunity to actively take part in a diverse range of activities that explore environmental issues, thereby are immersed in the message of Laudato Si’.

The Early Years children reused bottle tops in an art projet to celebrate the school’s 15th year anniversary.
The Nursery Classes redeveloped the school’s bug hotel in order to create a safe environment for the bugs to live.
The Nursery Classes also reused materials to create a scarecrow for the School Garden.
Key Stage 1 children learnt about recycling and reused materials to create their own models.
Key Stage 2 children learnt and performed dance routines retelling the story of The Journey Home by Fran Preston-Gannon. This beautifully illustrated story has a powerful message of conservation.
Key Stage 2 children also enjoyed taking part in a Junk Orchestra to learn about how materials can be reused and repurposed.
