Larmenier & Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School

Curriculum Statement

The policy of the Larmenier and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is to provide an excellent education and to help each child become a responsible individual as well as a thoughtful and independent learner. Children are expected to seek after excellence within and beyond what is taught. All children have equal opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, physical and personal development. Teachers continually assess children’s work. Individual targets are set and children are encouraged to work towards their highest potential. Parents have a vital role to play in the education of their children and all parents are encouraged to take an active part in the life of the school.

All subjects are taught as set out in the National Curriculum; also, French is taught. Teaching of Religious Education is in accord with diocesan recommendations.

Towards the end of Year 2 and Year 6 (at the ages of 7 and 11 respectively) children take Standard Assessment Tests in English, Mathematics and Science. The individual results are documented and reported to parents in the child’s annual report. The school’s overall performance is recorded in the School Profile which is published by the governors each year.
