 Public Sector Equality Duty:

Schools are required to publish information which is updated anually showing how they comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty and set at least one equality objective every 4 years. The need to advance equality of opportunity is defined in the Equality Act 2010 as having due regard to the need to:

o Remove or minimise disadvantages

o Take steps to meet different needs

o Encourage participation when it is disproportionately low

The Public Sector Equality Duty extends to the following protected characteristics:

o Race

o Disability

o Sex

o Age (as an employer, not regarding pupils)

o Religion/Belief

o Sexual Orientation

o Pregnancy and Maternity

o Gender Reassignment

The Governing Board of Larmenier & Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School has reviewed school development priorities, including pupil outcomes, to help identify any areas of practice that may need further improvement. This information has been used to inform the school’s equality objectives.

The school’s current equality objectives are to:

o Further increase the progress of disadvantaged pupils so that it is at least in line with that of their peers.

o Continue to enhance Physical Education provision so that greater enrichment opportunities are available to a broader range of pupils.

o Increase opportunities for pupil voice by giving the School Council more autonomy when undertaking their role.
